These images all come from or relate to my art project/zine/book, Sidewalk Superfoods. The book has branched into sign installations, prints, stickers and wheatpastes. It's been expanded from 22 to 44 pages, and the second edition also takes the form of a card deck.
Its idea is that we're overlooking the vast resource that is our wild plants- resilient and abundant, requiring no human tending. All we need to benefit from the nutritional and medicinal values of these raw, organic, non-gmo superfoods is a little knowledge and foraging effort.
I see education around these plants as something that, flourishing in the midst of crisis like homelessness, food deserts, factory farming and the overuse of dangerous pharmaceuticals- in our city and across our country- could be a small part of the antidote.
